Misa Office Polish-tics

First, can I say how BRILLIANT Misa is for coming up with such a name? I actually really like all the names of their polishes from the 9 to 5 collection. Really creative and they're not too corny, like how OPI can get sometimes.

Misa Office Polish-tics under a lamp.

In natural sunlight.

It's a really pretty colour, kinda reminds me of Zoya Kelly (which I don't have so I can't do any comparisons). It's a grey with hints of puple and blue (blurple?) and it's a really nice smouldering colour! Used two coats here and it was fairly easy to paint on! And I didn't do any clean ups in the above pictures so I think my painting skills have improved in terms of accuracy (and aiming)!

After an hour or two, I kinda got bored and decided to play with my crackle polishes and it's so fun just painting random strokes on so the pattern on all the nails look different!

Kinda getting the hang of painting the crackle polish on so that it kinda cracks the way I want it to. And did I mention how fun (and amusing) it is to watch it crack?? I showed my brother and his girlfriend my nails and they were both rather intrigued by the fact that my polish can crack! Oh, and I also tried painting the crackle on my bare nails and they don't crack! Seems like they only crack when there's polish underneath!

Interesting how it can "sense" the polish being there or not! Oh, and the black crackle is OPI Shatter, and the grey one is China Glaze Cracked concrete. I also added a top coat which is why the crackle polish seems glossy (because they dry matte).

OPI Ali's Big Break

Today I have OPI Ali's Big Break to show you! I've been eyeing it for so long ever since seeing tons of swatches of it online and I even went to Sephora to swatch it just to be sure the colour was nice. Eventually I caved during Gwen's last transdesign spree and decided to order it before it sold out.

With one coat, it looked more a little more pink and I actually wished the colour was what it was at one coat because with the 2 coats that I used, it became more of a Chinese New Year red, which made me feel a bit gaudy wearing it out.

Here it is, taken under a lamp:

The colour is pretty accurate here and again, this was 2 coats. I've read that quite a few people needed 3 coats for it to be opaque with no VNL buit since my nails are sooooooo short, I have practically no VNL to begin with so 2 coats was what I needed. Also, with 3 coats, the colour will be a little darker so I guess it also depends on what shade of red you want it to be.

Here it is photographed with flash:

This is how it tends to photograph with flash and in sunlight - a little bit brighter than its actualy colour! Honestly, I would have actually prefered it to be like that, if not a little bit darker than what I had in the first picture. I just saw a swatch of Essie Aperrtif online, and I'm in love with it! Really into reds these days and I want a nice deep red but not the vampy kind though. Something like Essie Limited Addiction? Although I would like to at least see it in real life first because reds are always so subjective and how accurate can online swatches be when it comes to the real colour? Off by a little in pictures for reds can translate to off by a lot on my nails!

Anyway, Ali's big Break does contain beautiful gold flecks of glitter!

I layered a coat of Seche Vite on top to make everything nice and glossy. I did find however, that because of the gold flecks, it made my nail polish appear as if I didn't paint it smoothly, like there were little tiny bumps on my nails? Don't know if it's just me. It looks pretty smooth in pictures but from certain angles IRL, it looks like I accidentally smeared my nails or something. Maybe I'm paranoid?

Hope you like this nice red! I think it'd be very appropriate for CNY, Christmas or even National Day! LOL!

My My BabyBlue

My my baby blue // Yeah I been thinkin bout you

Love that Aerosmith song! But anyway,

Awesome light light blue right??? And it costs only $2.10!!!! It's BL503 from Nature Republic and it only needed 2 coats for opacity. How cool is that? Honestly, it reminds me of the promo pic of Riva.

Case in point:

Now we all know it doesn't look like the real Riva but it's still a gorgeous gorgeous almost white-out blue and it makes my nails look really clean and neat.

Perhaps I should go get another bottle for back up? (:

Konad Attempt #2

I've got some smearing problems but I think overall, my konad skills have improved! Can't wait to do a konadicure soon! I think I shall impose another polish ban on myself soon and rely on konads to jazz my my manicures (instead of constantly buying new colours). I wanna try the second konad pattern (the houndstooth one) with a grey base soon!

Really happy with the 4 konad plates I got! Thinking of getting the Bundle Monster though! It seems very worth its price!

Silky Girl Naturally Nude

I bought Silky Girl Naturally Nude at Watsons a while back when they were having their 20% off promotion so it was really cheap (around $3)!

This was taken in natural sunlight. Here, it looks more peachy.

T
his was taken with flash, so you can see all the shimmer in the polish! The shimmer isn't as obvious as depicted in this picture so don't worry if you're anti-shimmer! The polish looks more pink in this picture and honestly, after wearing it for four days, depending on lighting, it's gonna vary from nude, to peach to pink! It was very amusing notcing how it would "change" colour!

Added a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust on my index finger so it wouldn't look too boring!

The bottle states it lasts up to 4 days (wonder why it only says 4 days because 4 days isn't gonna impress all of us right?) but it only lasted 2 days for me? Maybe cuz I was strumming a lot on my guitar so my ring finger experienced a lot of tip wear and chips! Left it on for a total of 4 days cuz the colour was pretty neutral so the chips weren't that obvious and when you have nails as short as mine, there's not much white tips to my nail, so when it chips, it mainly chips on the pink part of my nails so it wasn't that nasty looking!

Sand and Sea

Goodness, school has been crazy these last few weeks and it's set to continue being this way for the next few weeks. Have been wanting to hit the beach for the longest time to soak up the sun, sand and sea (and get a tan too because I'm becoming way too fair) but I haven't had any time to spare. So I thought, if I can't go to the beach, why not bring the beach to me!

Here I have Essie Playa Del Platinum on my toes and China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le on my fingers! Both colours are so fab and they totally make me feel more chill just by looking at them, especially after a stressful day!

Secret Peri-wink-le looks more true to colour in this picture! It's a really nice cornflower blue with some hints of purple. The more I look at it, the more love it!! It's fabulous! This was 2 coats with a coat of SV on top! Playa Del Platinum was also 2 coats!

Hope you like this combi as much as I do! (:
