#SGSwatchFest: Easter with KBShimmer Iris My Case and Spring Training

Happy Easter Everyone!

I grew up in a Catholic school so I know all about the origins of Easter. However, I'm not a particularly religious person so Easter is all about Spring-infused colours, happy vibes and most iportantly, CHOCOLATE! In fact, I just ate an Easter Egg that A LAcquered Affair gave me!

Speaking of Spring-infused colours, today I have the two KBShimmer Spring 2013 shades I bought to show you. The entire Spring collection really calls out SPRING but I had to be a good girl and limit myself to my favourite two.

This is three coats of Iris My Case, a sweet, lilac base with silver, blue, purple and magenta glitters of different sizes. I'm having a recent weakness for purple indies so this one was a no brainer.

Flawless application and the perfect colour combi! LOVE!

This is three coats of Spring Training. Spring Training has a delicate mint green base with pink, purple, blue, yellowand green glitters. Too make the polish even more awesome, it's also scented with a floral freesia note! The scent isn't in-your-face stong but it lasts for quite a while. I painted my swatch stick with Spring Training a week ago and the scent is still very much there! :)

Spring Training is definitely my favourite out of the two.

KBShimmer polishes are available on the KBShimmer website and internationally through Harlow & Co.

Hope y'all have a wonderful Easter Sunday!

Pahlish Toxic and Timeless

Pahlish Toxic and Timeless is a teal jelly polish with gold and blue glitters. It's a little similar to My Oblivion, which I showed you previously but they are different enough to warrant owning both. I have a comparison of the two polish later on in this post.

Here I am wearing two coats of Toxic and Timeless over OPI SKi Till We Drop on my index, middle and pinkie. On my ring finger, I have three coats of Toxic and Timeless by itself.

I have really short nails and almost no free edge so you can't really see the white bit on my ring finger but I can only imagine is on gals with longer nails and for that reason, I actually prefer layering Toxic and Timeless over a base colour. Plus, your bottle will last for more manicures!

That being said, wearing Toxic and Timeless by itself wasn't difficult. Application was easy and with a layer of Seche Vite on top, everything dried pretty quickly!

Here's a close up shot of Toxic and Timeless. You can see the gold and blue hex and bar glitters swimming in a gorgeous teal jelly base.

And here is Toxic and Timeless next to My Oblivion, as promised. You can see that the two are different. Toxic and Timeless has blue and gold glitters while My Oblivion only has gold holographic glitters. Toxic and Timeless also has a greener base compared to My Oblivion's bluer undertones.

Well, this is the last of the Pahlish polishes I hauled a couple months back but stay tuned because I have loads more indies to show you all! Till next time!

YSL Jade Imperial and Dior Nymphea Comparisons

Hey gals, this is going to be a quick post. I went out today, wanting to haul YSL Jade Imperial home but sadly it was already out of stock so all I could do was swatch the tester. For those wanting to get Jade Imperial too but who can't get hold of it or don't want to pay its hefty price tag, you can consider OPI Mermaid Tears or NOPI Green Up Your Act!

I'm wearing Jade Imperial on my thumb, Mermaid Tears on my index and Green Up Your Act! on my ring finger. Mermaid Tears is clearly closer to Jade Imperial than Green Up Your Act but it is still more yellow-toned and less dusty than Jade Imperial.

Here I'm wearing Jade Imperial on my thumb, Beadstreet A42 (or Enlistment, as I call it) on my index, and Chanel Khaki Vert on my middle finger. Once again, no dupes.

Next, we have Dior Nymphea, RBL Bikini Bottom and Essie Mint Candy Apple.

Nymphea wasn't OOS but I wasn't willing to pay S$37 for a blue creme (okay fine, Nymphea doesn't appear to have some secret shimmer going on in the bottle but it doesn't really show up at all on the nail so for all intensive purposes, I'm going to regard Nymphea as a creme). Bikini Bottom is clearly more jelly and greener than Nymphea but I'm finding myself more in love with it than Nymphea. Lastly, Mint Candy Apple is so much more vibrant and chalky than Nymphea.

Hope this quick post was useful! :)

#SGSwatchFest: World Water Day and Earth Hour

Hello my dear polish lovers! Earth Hour is tonight and in celebration of this special event, together with World Water Day (which was yesterday), I thought I'd do a special mani!

My mani was inspired by blues and greens - the beautiful colours of our Earth. From left to right: China Glaze Meteor Shower, Nfu Oh #40 over black, Gloss 'n Sparkle Edge of the World and a saran wrap nail with OPI Mermaid Tears topped off with NOPI Khloe Had a Little Lam Lam.

Time for some close ups!

This is two coats of China Glaze Meteor Shower. I think that it's important for us to just enjoy the simple things in life like watching the night sky and I'm hoping that during the hour when the lights get turned off, maybe we can all just look up to the sky and appreciate the beautiful stars.

This is one coat of Nfu Oh #40 over black. #40 is a colour shifting flakie which shits from green to cyan to blue and it just reminds me of the ocean.

This is three coats of Glass 'n Sparkle Edge of the World. It's a pretty teal jelly with blue and green hex glitters, together with some finer holo glitters. Very suitable for Earth Day eh? :)

This is a saran wrap done with OPI Mermaid Tears topped with NOPI Khloe Had a Little Lam Lam. I loved the saran wrap mani with the sepia tones and I wanted to do it again with more water / ocean-inspired colours.

If you have some time to spare, do take a look at the UN World Water and Earth Hour websites! Till next time! :)

The Epic Haul of Shame

HAPPY MID-WEEK YOU GUYS! We're already halfway through the work week so here's a little something fun!

I've been so busy trying to churn out swatches of all my recent holo and indie buys that I haven't been diligently doing up my monthly haul posts so I shall present you with my EPIC Haul of Shame - all my polish purchases from the past many many months. Please don't judge me. :D

I've also swatched a couple of these new babies and I've linked their names to their respective swatches so click away to see some swatches!

June's Haul:

Pretty & Polished Jawbreaker, Party on my Yacht, Hearts & Daggers, Dream Queen, Tart and Pool Party

Same order as above but I just wanted to show you how the polishes look like. I couldn't resist doing some close up shots. These were some of the first indies I purchase so I feel much more attached to them and thus I want to show them off just a little more! ;)

Jawbreaker and Party on my Yacht

HEarts & Daggers and Pool Party

Dream Queen and Tart

Hard Candy Beetle (Orly Space Cadet dupe) and Sky (Chanel Riva dupe) and WnW Bow In My Presence (China Glaze Optical Illusion dupe)

I got these from a blog sale and they were only a couple of bucks so why not?

Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday

In my defense, I did not purchase this polish. It was a free gift when Luxola was celebrating their birthday and if you purchased anything above $50, this polish was free!

July's Haul:

Revlon Radient, Blue Lagoon, Scandalous and Popular

I managed to find these babies during my trip to Hon Kong and I grabbed them like a mad woman. I think I actually ran to the shop when I saw them and the sales lady was laughing at me.

Butter London All Hail The Queen. Tart With A Heart and The Black Knight

These were my first BLs and I just had to get these three. HAD TO.

Nails Inc Sprinkles Sugar Lane House, Sweets Way, Pudding Lane and Topping Lane

I also couldn't resist these sweet Sprinkles polish from Nails Inc. Even their names sound so yummy!

Nubar Reclaim, Moon Eclipse and Iris Dust

I wanted to get hit free shipping for my beautybay order so I added these Nubars into my cart. Reclaim came highly recommended by Candy from Cherub's Lips. and I was in my multichrome/duochrome phase so I got the two pretty duochromes too.

OPI Absolutely Alice, Mad As A Hatter, China Glaze TMI, TTYL, FYI and GR8

My VHTF haul. I'm proud of myself that I managed to get these at rather reasonable prices! SCORE! Right now, I have 6 of the 12 OMGs (I have DV8 and 2NITE as well) so I'm gonna try to actively complate my OMG collection. I'm dead serious about at least getting the two purples so if you're willing to let go of your bottles, drop me a comment! I'd gladly take them off your hands for a reasonable price! :D

August's Haul:

Nfu Oh #63, #64, #66 and #59

Jade Holograficos Energy, Hypnose, Facsionio Violeta, Seducao Rosa, Vermelho Surreal, Mystic Gold and Magia Negra

Layla Gold Idol, Emerald Divine, Shock Pink, Red Taboo, Purple Illusion, Cloudy Violet, Misty Blush and Coffee Break

Finally, my Layla Hologram family is complete! :)

Lash Lacquer Midnight Affair, My Bubble, Flippin' Out, Lite Brite and Birthday Cake

Pahlish: Dark Parades, Train Underwater, Sullen Girl, End of Days, Toxic and Timeless and My Oblivion

Cirque Never Nude, Fascination Street and Ophelia, Amy's Nail Boutique Woodie's Wish and Fiesta

piCture pOlish Denim, Amethyst, Orbit and White Wedding

Ozotic 509, 518 and 522

Yes, August's Haul was HUGE. I was going BBBMTL (Buy Buy Buy Mail Tu Laio, which loosely translates to just "buy the damn thing and stop procastinating"!) at almost all the polishes I liked. I think it was partly due to the fact that I was going to start working in the last week of August and I just wanted to blow some savings just cuz I could. HAHA!

September's Haul:

KBShimmer Party, Lynnderella The Glittering Crowd (my very first Lynnderella!), China Glaze Ghoulish Glow, ManGlaze Fatty's Got More Blood and ILF

Nail Pattern Boldness Le Big Party and Bitches Brew. I bought Glitter Food (Fix A Flat) too but sadly I forgot to include it in the NPB family portrait. I'm a bad polish mother. :(

FNUG Psychedelic, Futuristica and Fantastica

Random OPIs: On Her Majesty's Secret Service, My Very First Knockwurst, Every Month Is Oktoberfest and Nein! Nein! Nein! Okay Fine!

October's Haul:

China Glaze Glitter All The Way and Savina Sparkles

Glitter Gal Teal Green, Nude, Wisteria and Citrine

Sea Lore Ariel

Lush Lacquer Shattered, Afterall It's Fall, Beryy Naughty, Sugar Daddy, Just Chillin' and Halloweenie

November and December's Haul:

Essie Navigate Her and A Crewed Interest

I've wanted these two since forever and I'm glad I finally managed to track them down! :)

Gloss 'n Sparkles Goblins Grave, Edge of the World, Pyjamarama and Witches Britches

Emily de Molly: The Fifth Element, Majestic Flight, When Planets Collide and Harmony

Gloss 'n Sparkle Pixel Perfect, Emily de Molly Bright Young Things and No Love Lost, Femme Fatale Costemics Crimson Acolyte and Winter Hyacinth

Obviously the Australians have gotten this indie polish going on! LOVE LOVE LOVE all of them.

Girly Bits Howl at the Moon and Indian Summer, KBShimmer Wrapper's Delight and All Decked Out, CrowsToes Absolum and Voodoo

Nostalgic Lacquer Rock Me Amadeus, Take On Me and Karma Chameleon

Loving how these were named after such amazing songs! I'm still not over my white based glitter phase.

Lynnderella The Glittering Crowd, Once In A Blue Rune, Salad Days, Funny Money, Very Pretty Vampire, Kabbalah Bracelet, Witch Couldron Was It?, Gotta Love Brains and Love, Lace and Lilacs

What indie haul would be complete without some Lynns? I know I featured The Glittering Crowd earlier on in this post but I couldn't separate it from the rest of the family! These babies cost me a bomb but they're all so pretty. Lynnderella was one of the first few indie polish makers and I just HAD to get them.

As you can see, my indie phase hasn't quite passed yet. I'm currently in love with purple based glitter polishes! They just look so delicate and fresh! :D

And now, moving on to some mainstreams.

China Glaze Winter Holly, It's A Trap-eze and Light As Air

Color Club Halo Hues

Yes, the holo slave in me had to get these.

Butter London Jack the Lad

This one caught my eye a couple months ago and Luxola was having a 30% off promo so I jumped on the chance to get this baby!

RBL Bikini Bottom, Squarepants, Patrick Starfish, Piu Mosso, Jane and Grunge

Bought these six during the BIB2 preorder. Not all of them are BIB2s though. Can't wait to wear the Spongebob colours (top row). They're screaming SUMMER to me!

------------

So there you go, that is my EPIC haul of shame. Obviously working has not helped with my polish addiction! I'll try to take more pictures of the hauls from 2013 and update the "Hauls" tab at the top of my blog soon!
