31 Day Challenge: Day 13 (Animal Print)

Hey everyone!

Since the end of my exams, I've been working on some designs on my nail plates just for fun, to see what I can come up with. And also, in case I ever decide to do manicures at fleas, I'd have the designs already done up!

If you're following me on twitter, you'd probably have seen the animal prints I'm about to show you but the picture I tweeted wasn't all that clear because of my sucky phone camera (fine, iPhone users, your camera is really good, no need to rub it in) so I took better pictures with my camera!

These 3 designs were actually much easier to do up than I had expected. They're all drawn by hand in case you're wondering!

Sadly, the moment I painted on a top coat, the black acrylic paint became a little mirky and I'm not too sure why! I've had better luck with waiting for the paint to totally dry for a few hours before painting on some SV but I don't think I'll have that much time to wait for the paint to dry if I do such designs at fleas so do you gals have any suggestions as to why this is happening? Is it the brand of acrylic paint I'm using? I know some of you gals use acrylic paint from Spotlight but mine is from Omni which I bought at popular. It's just regular artist's acrylic paint. Does the brand really make a difference though? :(

31 Day Challenge: Day 12 (Stripes)

I initially had a different idea for the Stripes challenge as I planned my original design a month ago but since it's so near Christmas, I thought I'd bring some holiday cheer and do a Christmas-inspired theme for Day 12!



Here's my candy cane themed nails! I'm not very pleased with how uneven the stripes are on my different nails but I did this manicure at 1am while watching Jerseylicious and Dirty Soap, and I didn't really wanna redo my index finger when I knew I was gonna remove it in 2-3 days, so bear with me. And haha, in case you can't figure out what's on my ring finger, it's the actual candy cane. I think it looks so funny, like some snake head, probably because my line wasn't as crisp as I wanted it to be!

The Versatile Blogger Award

Gonna take some time off my 31 Day Challenge to do a post on the award! I've been given the Versatile Blogger award by both Susan and Inky and like the both of them have mentioned, the award is more of a sharing thing than a real award for being versatile!

First things first, thanks to Susan and the Yings for passing the award to me! It's my first "award" so I'm honoured you gals thought of me!

 

Secondly, I've got to list seven things about me that you don't already know. I'm gonna try to list some polish-related stuff too so I won't bore you too much. Here goes:

1. My dad seems to be more receptive and supportive of my polish addiction than my mum. He's actually taken a few pictures of my nail wheels and posted it on facebook while my mum complains at how much money I'm spending on polish! HAHA!

2. I don't really listen to Chinese songs. I was a convent girl (St. Anthony's Cannosian Convent, in case you're wondering) and as a typical convent girl, I speak English 99% of the time and my Mandarin is abysmal.

3. I've recently taken a liking to galaxies. I guess it started when I googled some pictures for my Galaxy Nails and I was mesmerised. I read up more on them and watched a couple of shows on National Geographics and I'm really still amazed at how the galaxies were created! I'm planning to take Astronomy next semester in school so we'll see how that goes!

4. I think I have the most number of blue polishes in my collection. The number of blue polishes got so huge that they now have a dedicated drawer of the Helmer to themselves. It's about 3/4 full. The weird thing is, you'll almost never see me wearing blue polish!

5. I am anti-iPhone and pro-Blackberry but don't go dissing me yet. I didn't say I was anti-Apple! I actually do like Apple. I've got an iPod Classic and I've had it since 2007 and it still works perfectly! I'm also considering switching to a MacBook Pro once my HP dies on me. The reason why I'm so anti-iPhone is because EVERYONE has one. I know, you're probably gonna say there's a reason why everyone has one, yada yada. I must admit, having a billion apps seems very appealing and I really wish Blackberry had better apps (especially photography apps) but I'm really one who likes my phone to be separate from my mp3 player and my "entertainment device". My phone's for communicating, not for playing with and it will remain that way!

6. Ever since my polish addiction started, I've curbed my online clothes shopping addiction. Something's got to give, so when I get those mailing list emails, I just delete them to avoid temptation!

7. My favourite perfume is Lanvin Éclat d'Arpège. I've wanted it since I was in secondary school and I finally bought it this year! I really love how delicate it smells without being too sweet.

Now, I've got to share the love and pass this award down to 15 other bloggers and inform them! This is where the problem lies: I don't know 15 nail bloggers personally so really, if you want to share the love, here is me passing the award down to you!
