Vintage Roses Nail Art

I've been wanting to try out vintage roses nail art and since I already did the galaxy and tribal nail art, I thought I'd keep the nail art trend running!

After I googled a few tutorials, I tried drawing them on my naked nails just to see how they'd turn out.

I didn't really like the lighter green highlights on the leaves so I removed the roses on my last two nails and redid them!

I decided to use OPI Mermaid Tears and China Glaze For Audrey as my base because the vintage roses nail arts always had nice dusty vintage-y base colours!

Then, using a large dotting tool (I'll show you a picture of it later), I made the rose using random circular strokes with Essie In Stitches. Try not to make perfect circles if not the roses won't look at realistic! You can gauge how big to draw each rose depending on how many roses you want on each nail!

Next, I used a very fine dotting tool (again, picture later) to draw on the lighter pink hightlights on. For this, I used China Glaze Seashell. I started by drawing a tiny U shape in the middle and then drew on short strokes surrounding the U, close to the edge of the rose. After that, I used OPI Jade is the New Black to draw on the leaves. I did 2 little "bunny ears" on each rose, but for the smaller roses, I did just one leaf on each side instead of two "bunny ear" leaves.

I don't like the leaves on the righter most rose on my ring finger because it's almost as big as the rose but the rest of the roses still look okay so I'm quite happy with my attempt! (:

Here's the dotters I used for this nail art:

They came in a set of five!

I know what you're thinking! Why are there SIX dotters? I decided to store my other dotting tool (the blue one, second from the bottom) I purchased from PNC with the other five dotters so it'll be easier to find it whenI need to! The best thing is the five dotters only cost $5!!!! I got them at this flea shop outside *scape. They're there from Fridays to Sundays, 11.30am to 9.30pm (yes, I asked)! They also sell OPIs for $10 only! Needless to say I caved and got Road House Blues! Sadly, they ran out of striping brushes so I'll have to head down another time! maybe this means I'll be doing more nail art in the future!
Hope you guys like the vintage roses nail art! (:

  4. @madlynny: Thanks! It's much easier to do than it looks. The dotting tools are super worth it and the shop is quite easy to find because a lot of poeple will be crowding around.

@cherubslips: Okay, thanks! Hope you like the Tony Moly polish! (:
