Color Club Halo Hues 2013

I've been trying to resist the six new Color Club Halo Hues 2013 but the moment I saw them at Dyon International yesterday afternoon, I was sold.

The holo hoarder in my strikes again!



Kismet is a pale gold holo and it's one of the palest gold holos I have seen. It's pretty unique and since it's not too saturated, it'd pretty much go with most skin tones. It's also a work appropriate shade so all the better.



As I've said, Kismet is quite pale compared to the other gold holos I own. Jade Mystic Gold is obviously more saturated and Layla Gold Idol is just a tad richer though formula wise, I'd pick Kismet over Gold Idol in a heartbeat.



Cosmic Fate is a pinkish copper toned shade and I honestly thought it'd be more copper than pink but the pinker undertone was a nice surprise. It makes the shade daintier. This is probably my favourite out of the six because of its unique shade. Again, this one is also super work appropriate so you don't have to worry about bosses or clients complaining about your nails. Unless they're jealous, of course!



I have such a special spot in my heart (and Helmer) for pinkish copper holos and the other two have nothing on Cosmic Fate. Holoness wise, Cosmic Fate wins, just edging out Ozotic 522 but an eyelash (is that a good metaphor? HAHA!).



Miss Bliss is the lady of the collection. She's the pink one and I don't wear pink often but Miss Bliss ins't too pinky pink (if you know what I mean) so I'm still loving this baby. It also doesn't hurt how holo she is!



At maximum holoness, Miss Bliss looks pretty similar to Halo-graphic.



But holoness aside, you can see that Halo-graphic is the paler of the two.



Eternal Beauty is a heart stopper. Purple holos always are. I don't think I need to say anything more, do I? ;)



Eternal Beauty is pretty different from Cloud Nine, the purple holo from the first Halo Hues collection. The closest thing I have is Jade Fascinio Violeta but it is a tad lighter and less saturated than Eternal Beauty.



My my baby blue, I've been thinking bout you. Over the Moon is the...POW WOW!



Over the Moon is close to FNUG Futuristica but seriously, nothing can compete with Futuristica in terms of holoness. My picture doesn't show it but trust me.



Blue Heaven from the original Halo Hues is paler than Over the Moon so no dupes here.





And finally, we have come to the gem of the collection. Beyond is beyond amazing. It's a black holo. A BLACK HOLO. Not a charcoal holo but a black holo. In case you have no idea why I'm raving about a black holo, please let me enlighten you. Typically, when you add spectraflair or any holo particles to any shade, it becomes lighter, paler and greyer so when a black holo polish is made, it is a rare thing.



The only other black holo I know of is Jade Magia Negra (which I think translate to Magic Black) and it is the blackest holo that exists unless you use a spectraflair top coat over a black base. Beyond is only a tiny tiny bit paler and for the price difference, Beyond triumphs Magia Negra.



Formula wise, I used two coats for all six shades. These six new Halo Hues applied wonderfully and I didn't need an aqua base at all. They were admittedly a little think but it's nothing a little bit of thinner can't fix.

China Glaze Hologlam Collection Comparison Swatches

Hey y'all! Thought I'd do a quick comparison post for the China Glaze Hologlam shades. I know you all want as much info as you can get so I'm here to supply you with that information!

Ever since I got my nail swatch sticks, I've been happily swatching my babies and I think I'm a third through my collection. I've swatched my holos, indies and toppers (that includes flakies and glitters) and I'm not really looking forward to starting on the rest because it's gonna be a long project. Back to the sticks, I think they're a great way to catalogue your collection. I'm trying to sort mine by colours and I love how you can rearrange them so if you buy a new shade of polish that's in between two existing shades you own, it's easy to fit the new one in.

The sticks are also fantastic for doing comparisons since I don't have to reswatch anything so today's post is gonna feature my lovely sticks! Hope you guys don't mind that.  

All the pictures were taken indoors, under my table lamp.

Starting with the corals, we have China Glaze TTYL, China Glaze Digital Dawn, China Glaze TMI, China Glaze Not In This Galaxy, Layla Shock Pink and Layla Red Taboo.



Next, we have the magentas. From left to right, Layla Red Taboo, Layla Purple Illusion and China Glaze Infra-Red.



On to the lilacs, we have Color Club Halo-Graphic, China Glaze Astro-Hot and China Glaze Electric Magenta.



For the lavenders, we have Layla Ultra Violet, Color Club Cloud Nine, China Glaze Get Outta My Space and Color Club Fashion Addict.



Moving on to the dusty purples, we haveChina Glaze When Star Collide, Layla Misty Blush and Layla Cloudy Violet.



For the light blues, we have OPI DS Sapphire, Color Club Blue Heaven, Layla Mermaid Spell, FNUG Fusturistica and China Glaze Sci-Fly By.



Moving on to the medium to darker blues, we have China Glaze 2NITE, China Glaze High Def, China Glaze Strap On Your Moonboots, Into The Night (Franken), China Glaze Take A Trek and Glitter Gal Teal Blue.



As requested by Olivia, here is China Glaze DV8 and Take a Trek. DV8 leans more towards a marine blue whereas Take a Trek has a greyer undertone.



Same two polish, taken at an angle to show their holoness.



For the lighter, almost seafoam greens, we have China Glaze Don't Be A Luna-tic, Color Club Angel Kiss and Layla Jade Groove.



And we mustn' forget the olives that are A-England Princess Sabra and China Glaze OMG A UFO.



For the light greys, we've got Daiso #10, China Glaze Cosmic Dust and Layla Flash Black



And last but not least, we've got the charcoal/black holos that are China Glaze Galactic Gray, Color Club Revvvolution, Glitter Gal 10 to Midnight, Layla Flash Black and Jade Magia Negra.



I tried to include quite a few brands of holos in this comparison, like the China Glaze OMGs, Layla Holograms, Jade Holograficos, Color Club Halo Hues and Glitter Gal holos so you can tell how holo the new China Glaze Hologlams are.

I must admit that the aren't as blingy as the holos I've grown to love (Laylas and Color Clubs) but these new Holograms are quite different in terms of how smooth they look. The holo particles and reall extremely fine and honestly, the closest thing to compare them with will be the original OMGs.

As I've mentioned in my first swatch post of the Hologlams, these new China Glazes do dry a smidgen slower than the OMGs or the Laylas. I would say the dry time is comparable to the Halo Hues.

Holo Month Day 25: Jade Seducao Rosa

Today, for...



...I have the last of the Jade Holografico polishes I recently purchased form Shoppe Eclecticco to show you. Jade Seducao Rosa is a bright, rosy pink shade that packs that usual holographic punch I've come to expect of the Jade Holografico polishes.



Seducao Rosa is less opaque than Vermelho Surreal, which I showed you yesterday. I used three thin coats of Seducao Rosa in all my pictures.





This is actually one of the rare brighter pink shades you'll find in my collection because I don't think I can pull off the bright pink look. It just isn't me.



As always, I usually google swatches of a polish before deciding to buy it and I must warn you, most of the online swatches you'll see of Seducao Rosa are rather deceiving. Because of that, I thought Seducao Rosa would be a pinkish-copper shade so imagine my surprise when I saw this bright pink polish after unwrapping the bubble wrap. I think the promo picture that Jade released is pretty colour accurate.



The moment I ordered Seducao Rosa, I already knew I wanted to compare it to Ozotic 522 and I had thought they'd be close because well, I had expected Seducao Rosa to be less pink.

This is three coats of both polish.



As you can see, Ozotic 522 is a few shades darker and redder than Seducao Rosa. For that reason alone, if I had to, between the two, I'd pick 522.



I don't know, I just don't see myself being able to pull off Seducao Rosa. I'm not saying it's not a nice polish, because it is, it was really nice to apply and I've come to love the Jade brushes. Sadly, it just isn't very "me" but for those looking for a nice, bright office-friendly pink holographic, this would be a good choice!

Holo Month Day 24: Jade Vermelho Surreal

Continuing on...



KAPOW! Here's another red, hot and sexy holographic shade I have for y'all!
This is 2 coats of Jade Vermelho Surreal.



Vermelho Surreal was pretty opaque and applied easily but holy moly, was it hard to capture on camera. The picture below is the most colour-accurate.



Did I also mention that it's super holo? I mean LOOOOOOK!





Remember Ozotic 518 that I showed you earlier during Holo Month? The moment I got Vermelho Surreal in the mail, I knew they were very similar but I didn't know how similar they were until I saw them side by side!
This is 2 coats of Jade Vermelho Surreal and Ozotic 518.



If you really must know, Vermelho Surreal is a tad bit cooler than 518 but it's only by the tinniest bit. I'm pretty sure if you show these swatches to an ordinary non-polish addict, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference. BUTBUTBUT Vermelho is slightly more holographic than 518 and is a bit more opaque too.



In conclusion, in terms of
Holographic power: Jade Vermelho Surreal wins
Application: Ozotic 518 wins (I friggin love the Ozotic brush!)
Opaqueness: Jade Vermelho Surreal wins
Pricing: Ozotic 518 wins (Jade Vermelho is $1.23 per ml while Ozotic 518 is $1.65 per ml)
soooooo, it's a tie and I can't choose. I feel like a proud mama who refuse to favour one of her kid over the other!

Holo Month Day 23: Jade Magia Negra

For my second post for...



I chose a A BLACK HOLO!!!!! HOLAAAAA!

Jade Magia Negra is the deepest and blackest holographic polish I've seen. OMG IT'S SO PRETTY!



This was two easy coats of Magia Negra.



It was actually pretty opaque and you could probably get away with one coat if you know what you're doing!







Magia Negra is HOLO HEAVEN!



Here I have a comparison of Magia Negra with Glitter Gal Lizard Belly and 10 to Midnight, as well as my Spectraflair topcoat painted over a black base.



You can see that Lizard Belly is visibly greener and 10 to Midnight is a shade lighter than Magia Negra. Sadly, my SF topcoat doesn't seem to be as linearly holo as it should be! :(



Honestly, I've been looking at my holo polishes and I think I have a couple more to show you so I may continue posting holo polishes even after I've completed Holo Month! :)
