YSL Jade Imperial and Dior Nymphea Comparisons

Hey gals, this is going to be a quick post. I went out today, wanting to haul YSL Jade Imperial home but sadly it was already out of stock so all I could do was swatch the tester. For those wanting to get Jade Imperial too but who can't get hold of it or don't want to pay its hefty price tag, you can consider OPI Mermaid Tears or NOPI Green Up Your Act!

I'm wearing Jade Imperial on my thumb, Mermaid Tears on my index and Green Up Your Act! on my ring finger. Mermaid Tears is clearly closer to Jade Imperial than Green Up Your Act but it is still more yellow-toned and less dusty than Jade Imperial.

Here I'm wearing Jade Imperial on my thumb, Beadstreet A42 (or Enlistment, as I call it) on my index, and Chanel Khaki Vert on my middle finger. Once again, no dupes.

Next, we have Dior Nymphea, RBL Bikini Bottom and Essie Mint Candy Apple.

Nymphea wasn't OOS but I wasn't willing to pay S$37 for a blue creme (okay fine, Nymphea doesn't appear to have some secret shimmer going on in the bottle but it doesn't really show up at all on the nail so for all intensive purposes, I'm going to regard Nymphea as a creme). Bikini Bottom is clearly more jelly and greener than Nymphea but I'm finding myself more in love with it than Nymphea. Lastly, Mint Candy Apple is so much more vibrant and chalky than Nymphea.

Hope this quick post was useful! :)

#SGSwatchFest: World Water Day and Earth Hour

Hello my dear polish lovers! Earth Hour is tonight and in celebration of this special event, together with World Water Day (which was yesterday), I thought I'd do a special mani!

My mani was inspired by blues and greens - the beautiful colours of our Earth. From left to right: China Glaze Meteor Shower, Nfu Oh #40 over black, Gloss 'n Sparkle Edge of the World and a saran wrap nail with OPI Mermaid Tears topped off with NOPI Khloe Had a Little Lam Lam.

Time for some close ups!

This is two coats of China Glaze Meteor Shower. I think that it's important for us to just enjoy the simple things in life like watching the night sky and I'm hoping that during the hour when the lights get turned off, maybe we can all just look up to the sky and appreciate the beautiful stars.

This is one coat of Nfu Oh #40 over black. #40 is a colour shifting flakie which shits from green to cyan to blue and it just reminds me of the ocean.

This is three coats of Glass 'n Sparkle Edge of the World. It's a pretty teal jelly with blue and green hex glitters, together with some finer holo glitters. Very suitable for Earth Day eh? :)

This is a saran wrap done with OPI Mermaid Tears topped with NOPI Khloe Had a Little Lam Lam. I loved the saran wrap mani with the sepia tones and I wanted to do it again with more water / ocean-inspired colours.

If you have some time to spare, do take a look at the UN World Water and Earth Hour websites! Till next time! :)

OPI On Her Majesty's Secret Service

The moment I laid eyes on Zoya Fei Fei, I had to have her but Zoya's pretty hard to buy where I come from so when OPI released On Her Majesty's Secret Service, a pretty close dupe for Fei Fei, I was pretty ecstatic!

This is three coats of OHMSS with one coat of Essie Good To Go.

OHMSS is a sheer polish that is sooooo complex.  It actualy slightly duochrome as it flashes from green to purple but unfortunately, my camera was having a bitch fit so I didn't manage to capture the pretty duochrome. :(

I'm totally in love with the gold and blue and periwinkle shimmer swimming amidst its slate blue base.

Seeing how sheer OHMSS was, I thought it'd be a pretty good topper so I decided to try layering it over a couple of dark, sexy colours.

Here are some super close up shots!

OHMSS is one of my favourite polishes from all of this year's release. That's how much I love it!

March's Haul

I haven't exactly been a really good girl.

I know that.

But somehow, this addiction is not an easy one to kick, especially with so many enablers around.
So with that, I present to you March's Haul:

I'm absolutely in love with the entire Layla Hologram collection. Worth. Every. Single. Cent. Even though they're a bit sheer and require up to 3 coats to build up opacity, they are magnificantly holographic. They are sublime.

Where to buy: http://www.aveyou.com/

Here are the OPIs I picked up from the Holland and NYC Ballet collections. I got Red Lights Ahead...Where?, Roll In The Hague, I Have A Herring Problem, Pirouette My Whistle, Don't Touch My Tutu, My Pointe Exactly and Care to Danse. In case you're wondering, I bought all these OPIs from DYON International. They're always at *scape during the weekends so you can satisfy your OPI and China Glaze lemmings there!

Bought the first two because I wanted some bright colours and a proper orange, and how could I possibly resist the beauty that is I Have A Herring Problem?

As for the Ballet collection, I was so tempted to just grab the entire collection since I know I'd be using all the neutral shades once I start work this August, but with some help from my awesome polish buddies (HEY GIRLS!), they managed to convince me to only get 4 shades and save my wallet!

Moving to to theese gorgeous Ozotics that I purchased from Susan...these babies are to die for. The colour shift on these four bottles are CRAZY. Just take my work for it and order them. You will not regret it!

I'm so happy I finally got NOPI Khloe Has A Little Lam Lam! I must admit, Khloe is my favourite Kardashian. She's so inyerface and she's just one of those people you either love or hate and I LOVE her. I also got Rainbow in the Sky-lie cuz it's a pretty good dupe for Rainbow Connection and I figured it'd be good to have a "backup" just in case! The two NOPIs were purchased at Watsons.

I also got Stone Cold and Smoke and Ashes from the China Glaze Capitol collection, which were reviewed here. They're really pretty and I bought them from DYON when they were in NTU for a flea!!!!

And last buy not least, I bought OPI DS Diamond during Nailvibe's sale so I got a pretty good deal for it. As for Revlon's Whimsical, Gwen managed to work her magic and helped me to get a bottle. THANK YOU GWEN, IF YOU'RE READING THIS! And I think I saved the best for last, with Max Factor's Fantasy Fire! My friend managed to help me grab a bottle and I will be eternally grateful to her!

So yeah, that's it for March's Haul. I think I did pretty well in March! I didn't take too long typing out all the info so I think the haul was pretty contained! :D
