Pretty & Polished Tart

Hey y'all! It's the eve of the Lunar New Year and I hope all of you who are celebrating this special season are ready for the new year! Houses have to be spring cleaned, new clothes have to be bought, food have to be cooked, reunion meals have to be eaten! It's a busy busy period!

I thought I had swatched all my Pretty & Polished babies for you earlier on but apparently I missed one out - Tart!

Tart is probably the polish that started my recent purple craze. Tart is a crelly polish with gold, blue and magenta glitters. Application was easy and its formula was perfect.

This is three coats of Tart and all I can think of is how this looks like a purple easter egg!

I love how Tart doesn't look too diabetes-inducingly sweet.

Purple power! Here's one last picture for the road.

Here's wishing all my lovely readers a wonderful and properous Lunar New Year! May your angpao (red packet) reapings be bountiful as the joy that will fill your houses and families this coming year! :)

Pretty & Polished Hearts & Daggers

I have the last of my Pretty & Polished babies to show you today.

This is Hearts & Daggers painted and dabbed over China Glaze Dove.

I must admit, I had quite a hard time deciding what base colour to paint Hearts & Dagger over and Dove was such a nice and neutral colour that allowed not only the black and white glitters but also the red hearts to shine!

The irridescent glitters were a bit hard to photograph and sadly, they look like air bubbles! :(

Hearts & Daggers just makes me feel like playing bridge! I use to play bridge with my university room mate every night when we were staying in the hostel.

I had to end with the lyrics of one of my favourite songs that Hearts & Daggers remind me of:

I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that's not the shape of my heart

Pretty & Polished Sand Art

I started out with three coats of Nubar Faded Jeans. I think I'm starting to love this baby even more. Coco Blue was the only Chanel Les Jeans polish I didn't get so I'm glad I got Faded Jeans! :)

This is one coat of Sand Art over Faded Jeans. Sand Art is a matte glitter mix in a clear base. It is a pretty sparse glitter so I'd recommend painting it over a base rather than wearing it on its own.

Sand Art's like a colourful Floam! My favourite bit about it is the berry coloured glitters that just POP.

I have Hearts & Daggers, the last of my P&Ps, coming up soon! Till then!

Pretty & Polished Pool Party

I hauled a couple of Pretty & Polished polishes a few months ago and Pool Party was one of them.

I started out with three coats of Nubar Faded Jeans.

This one's a close dupe for Chanel Coco Blue. I love the subtle shimmer in Faded Jeans.

And now, for the star of the show, Pool Party.

This is two coats of Pool Party on top of Faded Jeans.

I love how fun Pool Party is. It reminds me of, well, pools and all kinds of inflatable floats! It's a perfect polish if you're need of a little more fun in your life!

Pretty & Polished Party on my Yacht

You walked into the party, like you were walking onto a yacht...

I'm sorry, You're So Vain just popped into my head as I was typing the title for this post but back to the polish, this is Pretty & Polished Party on my Yacht, a white polish with purple, indigo, green and gold glitters.

This is two coats of POMY over a coat of China Glaze White on White.

Love the colours of the glitters in this one. POMY and Jawbreaker were probably the first few white crelly (creme-jelly) glitter polishes I fell in love with.

I couldn't resist matte-ing it up. POMY looks so much more edgy this way.

Sadly I wasn't able to get any of the green bar glitters on my nails this time round but the last time I used POMY, I did get quite a few of em so here's a nice close up for you.

I have more P&Ps heading your way so stay tuned!

Pretty & Polished Jawbreaker

The moment I saw Jawbreaker, I just had to have it and I swear, this was the polish that started my love for multi-coloured glitters in a white base!

Jawbreaker, named after the sweet, has the classic colors, blue, red, purple, green and yellow, in the form of different glitter shapes and sizes, all in a milky pinkish-white base.

Because I only got the small bottle (my full-sized one was still on it's way to me when this post was being drafted), I didn't want to use any more of this delicious polish than I had to so I painted a this coat of China Glaze White on White before doing two coats of Jawbreaker on top, as well as a coat of SV to smooth out the surface.

Here's two close up shots!

I didn't really have to fish around and strategically place any glitters with Jawbreaker, though if you noticed, I only managed to get one red square on my (ten) nails. I have a feeling all the red squares in my bottle have decided to adhere to the glass wall and refused to come out and play!

Here's one last picture of the bottle for the road!

I'm absolutely loving this P&P and I can't wait to swatch the rest! Till next time! :)

May's Haul

Sorry I'm late with May's haul. I haven't really been keeping track of my polish collection of late, reason being it's getting harder to do so with the ever-expanding polish count. Also, I've been trying to stay off polish to save for something I would treasure more, a new guitar! That being said, I only started my serious low-buy in June so May's haul was a little crazy (as usual).

The first two pictures are of the polishes I got in Korea, while on my graduation trip. The polishes were dirt cheap I tell you and I grabbed so many that my baggage was overweight on the flight back. Thank goodness my friends who didn't shop a lot, so I "ate" into their excess weight limit.

As you can see, I'm really loving the chunky glitter trend right now, especially with all the indie polish trend so I had my chunky glitter fix with the Korean polishes! I'm not gonna name them because in all honestly, they're all alphabets and numbers and it's just too much work.

Next, we have the three Cult Nails polishes I got (Seduction, Captivated and Toxic Seaweed), Floam, as well as a couple of Beadstreet polishes I bought. In the bottom row, I got Jawbreaker and Dream Queen, Catrice Sold Out Forever (a Chanel Jade dupe), Essence Glorious Aquarious, GG 10 to Midnight, Inglot 204 (a blue flakie) and GG Andamooka Blue (a supposed blue flakie but I see random bits of red and green flakes in there too! D:).

Then we have four Essence Colour3 polishes. Three of them were CPs from EuropeI didn't know Singapore was gonna bring them in and sadly, I paid almost double what they cost at Watsons but hey, you win some, you lose some. And I'm still very grateful to my dear Evillee who helped me buy all the gorgeous European polishes on her trip there!

And lastly, I did an epic Ozotic / Picture Polish / A-England haul at ninjapolish. I'm so glad I snapped up all the Ozotic 500 series polish that I wanted because they're now discontinued.

So ther you have it, May's Haul. An epic haul if I might add. I seriously need to cut back on buying polishes! My Helmer is now full and I'm storing all the polishes you see in this post in an empty A4 paper box cover, which incidentally, is almost the same size as a Helmer drawer. I know us polish addicts always say we need to cut down and then we go on no/low buys which always turn out to fail but we'll see.

I'm pretty damn adamant this time and considering it's already 26th June, I've only bought a couple of polishes from a US blog sale because those polishes were quite unique and were going at some exremely reasonable prices! I did pay for my Pretty and Polished pre-orders but I placed those orders a long long time ago so they don't count!!! I also have the Nails Inc Sprinkles and some Nubar duochromes in my beautybay cart, which I'm sure I will check out by the end of the month but it's a considerable improvement already so yay! :)

Ozotic 504

My previous manicure with Beadstreet Q50 and Pretty and Polished Dream Queen was going strong so I decided to layer two coats of Ozotic 504 on top of Q50 to "refresh" my manicure.

GOSH, Ozotic 504 is DA BOMB! I took a bazillion pictures to try to capture all the beautiful colour shift but my pictures were sadly, not as pretty as the others but still, this polish is PURDY!

You can see the cooler tones in the above picture - purple, indigo and royal blue.

You can start seeing the warmer tones from this picture down. It starts with an copper tone and shifts to fuschia, then to the cooler purple and royal blue.

I think this is the best picture that shows off most of the spectrum of the colour shift in 504!

I actually had better luck capturing the colour shift of 504 with a Posh Polish ring. You can see the spectrum of colours much more vividly!

The green, to gold, amber, fuchsia, purple, indigo and lastly royal blue colour shift is just so much more spectacular in ring form! It's sad that it's much harder to observe and capture all that glorious colour shift on the nails! :(

That being said, 504 is still a MUST HAVE! I tell you, I kept staring at my nails all day. Every time an ounce of sunlight was on my nails, I was moving my digits around and STARING.

If you haven't heard already, Ozotic has announced that they're discontinuing the 500 series and they're having a sale until the end of June or until stocks run out, so if you haven't grabbed your favourite 500 series polishes yet, please do so before it's too late! For girls in Singapore who are interested, you can order your Ozotics from Susan!

I'll be posting more on Ozotic for the next few posts so you all can see the gorgeousness that is the 500 series! See you then!

Beadstreet Q50 & Pretty & Polished Dream Queen

I bought this purple shimmery polish from Beadstreet a couple of weeks back and it was so pretty thaat when I showed it to my friends, we actually went to Beadstreet after our meal so they could check it out too! :D This polish has a purple base with fuchsia and blue shimmers.

Then we have Pretty & Polished Dream Queen, which Cheeying AKA Evillee from Inky Polisholicious was kind enough to help me purchase. This one has a pastel purple base with a very subtle purple shimmer, large and small white hex glitter, pink large hex glitter and large purple square glitter.

I had some problems with the pink hex glitter pieces curling, as can be seen in the picture below, and I ended up painting two more thin coats of just the polish over to help "seal" the glitter in so them wouldn't curl as much. That didn't really work out as well as I had hoped because the extra polish engulfed the purple square glitters. :(

I really like Dream Queen but it was pretty hard for me to get the chunky glitters to spread out evenly too. I had better luck with painting the nail on my right hand so I'm going to show it to you. Please excuse my shy right hand. She's a bit awkward in front of the camera!

You can see in the picture below the pretty fuchsia and blue shimmer I was talking about in Q50. I really hate the way Beadstreet "names" their polish and I used to christian their polishes on my blog so this one shall be called Purple Rain, because I love Prince!

C'mon, for $2, Beadstreet polishes are AWESOME! They apply well, they're opaque enough and they're cheap. What more can I ask for? :)

I have an Ozotic 504 review in the lines so stay tuned! See you then!
