Glitter Gal Citrine

Hey hey!
It's been a while since I participated in #SGSwatchFest / #polishtogether but being that this month is my birth month, I just HAD to! And what better way to usher November in than with a holographic baby!
This is three thin coats of Glitter Gal Citrine.

Love Glitter Gal's fuss free holographic formula. No bald spots, no dragging issues. Just pure holo gorgeousness!

#SGSwatchFest: Mothers' Day with Femme Fatale Cosmetics Crimson Acolyte

Hey lovelies! Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful Mothers out there!

Just on a side note, I was thinking how to decorate my Mum's card this year and because I haven't done any sort of art and craft in recent years with the exception of nail art, look what I "resorted" to...

Nail polish roses!

Back to the polish, today I have a beauty to show you!

Femme Fatale Cosmetics Crimson Acolyte is a reference to World of Warcraft! It's a cranberry jelly polish filled with pink and red glitters of all kinds - hex, bar, holo.

Here I'm wearing three coats of Crimson Acolyte on my middle and pinkie, one coat of Crimson Acolyte over OPI Siberian Nights on my index and one coat of Crimson Acolyte over OPI Miama Beet on my ring finger.

Application wise, Crimson Acolyte was a pretty fuss-free polish and dry time was not bad. I also like how the base colour is pretty see through so it provides for tons of layering options!

Here are some close up shots. This is Crimson Acolyte by itself. It's squishy as hell (in a good way, of course)!

This is Crimson Acolyte over OPI Miami Beet. Miami Beet is the perfect base colour for Crimson Acolyte if you want a matchy-matchy look.

Finally, this is Crimson Acolyte over OPI Siberian Nights. I love this one the best actually. Siberian Nights is dark enough but it's not the predictable black base. LOVE IT!

Definitely a recommended polish!

#SGSwatchFest: Easter with KBShimmer Iris My Case and Spring Training

Happy Easter Everyone!

I grew up in a Catholic school so I know all about the origins of Easter. However, I'm not a particularly religious person so Easter is all about Spring-infused colours, happy vibes and most iportantly, CHOCOLATE! In fact, I just ate an Easter Egg that A LAcquered Affair gave me!

Speaking of Spring-infused colours, today I have the two KBShimmer Spring 2013 shades I bought to show you. The entire Spring collection really calls out SPRING but I had to be a good girl and limit myself to my favourite two.

This is three coats of Iris My Case, a sweet, lilac base with silver, blue, purple and magenta glitters of different sizes. I'm having a recent weakness for purple indies so this one was a no brainer.

Flawless application and the perfect colour combi! LOVE!

This is three coats of Spring Training. Spring Training has a delicate mint green base with pink, purple, blue, yellowand green glitters. Too make the polish even more awesome, it's also scented with a floral freesia note! The scent isn't in-your-face stong but it lasts for quite a while. I painted my swatch stick with Spring Training a week ago and the scent is still very much there! :)

Spring Training is definitely my favourite out of the two.

KBShimmer polishes are available on the KBShimmer website and internationally through Harlow & Co.

Hope y'all have a wonderful Easter Sunday!

#SGSwatchFest: World Water Day and Earth Hour

Hello my dear polish lovers! Earth Hour is tonight and in celebration of this special event, together with World Water Day (which was yesterday), I thought I'd do a special mani!

My mani was inspired by blues and greens - the beautiful colours of our Earth. From left to right: China Glaze Meteor Shower, Nfu Oh #40 over black, Gloss 'n Sparkle Edge of the World and a saran wrap nail with OPI Mermaid Tears topped off with NOPI Khloe Had a Little Lam Lam.

Time for some close ups!

This is two coats of China Glaze Meteor Shower. I think that it's important for us to just enjoy the simple things in life like watching the night sky and I'm hoping that during the hour when the lights get turned off, maybe we can all just look up to the sky and appreciate the beautiful stars.

This is one coat of Nfu Oh #40 over black. #40 is a colour shifting flakie which shits from green to cyan to blue and it just reminds me of the ocean.

This is three coats of Glass 'n Sparkle Edge of the World. It's a pretty teal jelly with blue and green hex glitters, together with some finer holo glitters. Very suitable for Earth Day eh? :)

This is a saran wrap done with OPI Mermaid Tears topped with NOPI Khloe Had a Little Lam Lam. I loved the saran wrap mani with the sepia tones and I wanted to do it again with more water / ocean-inspired colours.

If you have some time to spare, do take a look at the UN World Water and Earth Hour websites! Till next time! :)

#SGSwatchFest: St Patrick's Day

HAPPY ST PATTY'S DAY TO ALL MY READERS WHO ARE CELEBRATING THIS HOLIDAY!

According to Wikipedia, St. Patrick's Day is named after St. Patrick, one of the most commonly known patron saint of Ireland. It is a religious and cultural holiday that generally involves festivals and the wearing of green.

So without any further ado, here's my St Patty's Day mani featuring the gorgeous Gloss 'n Sparkle Goblins Grave.

I didn't want to do a typical shamrock green mani so I chose Goblins Grave, a beautiful midnight green jelly polish with teal and green holo and black hex glitters. It's definitely looks much prettier than it sounds!

I'm generally not a fan og holo hex glitters (at the moment) but the colour combi of Goblin's Grave was done so perfectly that I do love this polish very much! This wass three thin coats. The polish applied nicely and had a pretty quick drying time.

Absolute love!

#SGSwatchFest: Spring Nails

Hey lovelies! Couple weeks ago, a few of us came together for our first #SGSwatchFest with Femme Fatale Cosmetics Winter Hyacinth and it was such a hit, we're now planning for many more #SGSwatchFests to come.

Today, a couple of us were supposed to meet and show off our latest Spring themed nails and I was really excited to finally meet some of the girls I've come to know in our local polish scene. Unfortunately, during my lunch, just hours before our meeting, I suddenly came down with serious abdominal pains and I started throwing up so I had to take a rain check. :(

I did my spring nails last night though, in anticipation of the meetup and here they are!

This was actually the inspiration behind the mani:

I saw this mani article in yesterday's Urban newspaper and I it was such a fit for this #SGSwatchFest so I decided to paint my nails like that too!

According to the article, they used Butter London Cuppa (nude base), Trout Pout (pinkie), Artful Dodger (ring), Kerfuffle (middle), Jasper (index) and Molly-Coddled (thumb).

For my version, I used Essie Sand Tropez for my base colour, China Glaze Lemon Fizz (thumb), Essie A Crewed Interest (index), OPI Done Out In Deco (middle), Color Club Take Me To Your Chateau (ring) and Essie Navigate Her (pinkie).

I haven't done *any* form of nail art in a very long time and with the whole glitter indie craze, I got lazy but this mani was so easy to do and it's a great way to break into the whole nail art thing again!

Loving this spring mani so much! Looking forward to the next #SGSwatchFest! :)

#SGSwatchFest: Femme Fatale Cosmetics Winter Hyacinth

Happy mid-week you guys! Can't believe it's already Wednesday. How time flies when you're busy!

A couple of gals decided that we'd post swatches of Femme Fatale Winter Hyacinth together today so here's my contribution!

Winter Hyacinth was the very first shade from Femme Fatale Cosmetics that caught my eye and when Shoppe Eclecticco announced they were bringing the brand in, I camped in front of my computer and made sure I managed to ninja a bottle for myself!

Here I'm wearing two coats of Winter Hyacinth over Elianto Turquiose on my index, middle and pinkie, and 3 (thicker) coats of Winter Hyacinth by itself on my ring finger.

Winter Hyacinth is a BEAUTIFUL turquoise jelly with fuchsia hex and circular glitters. Some of the hex glitters are also holographic! To add on to that, there are also white hex and diamond glitters. These white glitters are sparser and a tiny bit harder to get on the nails so some fishing and dabbing might be required.

I didn't want to use any more of Winter Hyacinth than required for today's swatches but I do like it much better by itself than layered so the next time I wear this baby, I'm gonna wear it full on Winter Hyacinth!

Yes, I am aware that the pictures are starting to look very alike but I assure they are different. Winter Hyacinth was so gorgeous I couldn't resist taking more shots!

GAHHHH, she's such a beauty!

Here's a close up of Winter Hyacinth layered over a turquoise base polish.

And here's a close up of Winter Hyacinth by itself.

Shoppe Eclecticco recently restocked Femme Fatale Cosmetics on their site and Winter Hyacinth is already Out of stock but you can keep track of restocks on their facebook page so if you haven't gotten you bottle yet, you know what to do! Alternatively, you can also get your bottle from Llarowe during their next restock!

Till next time!
