Pretty Jelly, Pretty Serious and Lumina Lacquer Spam

HELLO POLISH LOVERS! Sorry for the lack of posts. It's the same ol' same ol' reason: work, work and more work that's been taking up my time. In fact, I was working the whole of yesterday (Saturday) up till 5am this morning so that I could have some time off to chill and paint my nails.

I have three very pretty polished to show you today! The first of which, is Pretty Jelly Hera.



Hera is from the Pretty Jelly Goddess Collection, a multichrome holo line which features five beauties that were inspired by the Greek Goddesses.

According to Pretty Jelly, Hera is a purple-indigo multichrome holo that shifts from cool icy blue-purple to a rich red-purple. Let's put her to the test shall we? For my swatches, I've painted three coats of Hera on my index, ring and pinkie, and two coats of Hear over a black base on my middle finger.



Cool, icy blue-purple, check!



Here, Hera is shifting to a warmer purple.



Red, rich purple, check!

Now, let's not forget that Hera is also holographic.



Final thoughts: I must admit, Hera doesn't really come close to the Ozotic holo multuchromes but it's nice to see some other alternatives out in the market. Hera was a dream to apply and built up nicely. You don't have to wear it over a black base, which is nice. The black base does bring out the colour shift a bit more but it's really optional. The Ozotics on the other hand, no way I'll wear them without a black base.



Now for Pretty Serious Phantom Planet.



Pretty Serious Cosmetics says it's a green foil multichrome that shifts through aqua and blue. I know it's totally not polish-related but when I first saw Pantom Planet, California (The O.C. theme song) was totally playing in my head!



Even in this first picture, where it's the most green, you can already see hints of blue.



This picture above makes me think of a mermaid's tale. What a beauty!



And now the aqua shift. Phantom Planet really is a pretty pretty polish. I thought it would be more "alien green" so the bluer side was a nice surprise.

Final thoughts: Phantom Planet has a pretty thin formula but it was surprisingly pigmented. I was wearing three thin coats on my index, ring and pinkie, and two thin coats over a black base on my middle finger. I didn't think Phantom Planet would build up so easily but it did! That being said, because of the thinner consistency, be careful not to get too much polish on your brush or else you'll flood your cuticles.



Lumina Lacquer Seastar is the last polish I have for you tonight.



Seastar is such a sweet, pastel glitter polish. It mades me think of lullabies so I chose a soft base colour to compliment the pretty, soft glitters.





This is one coat of Seastar over Chna Glaze Light As Air. The holo stars were easy to get on my nails, though I had to dab the other glitters on just so every thing would be evenly spread out. It was no trouble at all so really, it wasn't a big deal. The stars made me think of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star!

Final thoughts: This is a pretty pretty polish that mades me feel like a little girl! It's sweet and really cute! Formula was manageable and you can wear it over a multitude of base colours so the sky's the limit!


Hope you guys liked these three babies as much as I do. I'm really happy with them. I'm really hoping to have more free time so I can go back to swatch, swatch, swatching! I have so many new shades that I can't wait to show y'all. See you guys soon!

Different Dimension Homeboy

Heyyy y'all! Today I have such a fun colour to show you! This is Different Dimension Homeboy and the shade just reminds me of The Smurfs!

Homeboy is part of the new Different Dimension 80's Baby Collection, which consists of neon coloured scatter holo polishes. This is two coats of Homeboy and I simply love how opaque it is.



Neon polishes tend to be very jelly like and you need a couple of coats to get them all smooth, opaque and glossy but this baby was such a dream to apply!



I also love that it was a scatter holo instead of a linear holo because it's NEON. Why would you want to take any attention away from the colour? :)





Hopefully you can see the scattered holo effect a little better in the next two pictures.





Homeboy is such a fun shade to wear and it was certainly a home run for me!

Jindie Nails Noel

Heyhey! Today, I have Noel from the Jindie Nails Santa Claws collection to show you guys.

Straight up, I couldn't resist doing a bottle shot. Noel is described as a "neon green, white and red matte glitters and green sparkles densely packed in clear base," from Jindie Nail's Etsy and that couldn't be any more accurate!



I started out with two coats of Essie Going Incognito. Love how glossy it is!



Then went on one coat of Noel. What I love about Noel is that it doesn't have too much jolly green (Christmas green) glitters so using a jolly green base really brought out all its colours!



I also love how the red jumps out and make everything pop even more.



We've been seeing so much red and green hex (and bar) glitters from all the other indie Christmas collections and Noel's matter glitter is such a breath of fresh air!



I also decided to try layering Noel over some reds. This is two coats of Sally Hansen Brick Wall, Beadstreet 74 (or Brick It Up as I have christianed it) and China Glaze Hey Sailor.



This is one coat of Noel over all three nails.



Now on to some close up shots, here's Noel over Going Incognito. Love the colour combination!!!



This is Noel over Hey Sailor. Hey Sailor is a typical Christmas bright red and I'm sad that it kidna swallowed the red glitter in Noel.



This is Noel over Brick It Up. Brick It Up reminds me of gingerbread cookies and it just brings up such not so typical Christmasy feel whenever I see it.



This is Noel over Brick Wall. This one is my favourite combination of the reds. Brick Wall was dark enough to let all the glitters shine through.



LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Jindie Nails Rose Among Thorns

Today I have another Jindie Nails to show you. This is Rose Among Thorns, a white jelly polish with matte and metallic green, rose pink, blue and black square, round, hex and bar glitters.



Here I'm wearing two thick-ish coats of Rose Among Thorns on my index and middle and one thick coat over white on my ring and pinkie.

HELLO GORGEOUS!



I'm loving how Rose Among Thorns by itself. Love how squishy it looks!



Painted over white, Rose Among Thorns looks much more clean cut.



I really like the pink and green glitter combination and the square and bar glitters make for a more interesting polish!






I love how Rose Among Thorns isn't like all the other white based multi-glitter indies out there. The colour combi of glitters just make it stand out from the bunch!

One last thing: Rose Among Thorns is a retiring shade so grab it now before it sells out!

Daring Digits Silver Dragon

I'm really excited today because I've got my first ever bottle of Daring Digits to show you polish lovers!
Daring Digits is an indie brand of polish that was started back in February with a whole array of polishes (glitters, flakies, shimmer polishes!) available to satisfy your every polish lemming.

First up, can I just say how much I love their logo sticker on the mini bottle. I actually thought that the logo was printed on the bottle but after examining it a little closer, the whole sticker idea is much more wicked!

This is Silver Dragon, a glass fleck topper that can be layered over any base colour.



Here's a bottle shot. You can see all the gorgeous tiny flecks up close!



This is two coats of Silver Dragon over a black base.



Daring Digits describes Silver Dragon as "an absolutely gorgeous silver "flakie" topper...It isn't a normal flakie but the particles are very large compared to normal interference polishes."

I however, beg to differ. Silver Dragon does initially appear to contain silver flecks but upon closer examinination, the flecks are actually iridescent mutli-coloured flecks that just glow whenever any light source hits them!



Application was easy breasy and as if Silver Dragon wasn't awesome enough, I just had to see how it looked like mattified and boy was I blown away.



WOWZA!

Pomegranate Nail Lacquer Blue Screen of Death

Today, I'm interupting Holo Month once more because I have a very special polish to show you guys! This baby below is Blue Screen of Death from Pomegranate Nail Lacquer.

According to their website, Pomegrante Nail Lacquer is a high-quality, long-wearing, chip-resistant nail polish made in the USA. All their lacquers are 4-free, which means they don't contain toluene, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) or camphor.



For all you lucky people who have yet to see a Blue Screen of Death, here's what it looks like.

The Blue Screen of Death is "the error screen displayed by the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems upon encountering a critical error, of a non-recoverable nature, that causes the system to crash". (Taken from Wikipedia) I have only seen the mysterious Blue Screen of Death once and I hope I'll never have to see it ever again.

But back to the polish, the moment it, I knew I had to have it, if not for its gorgeous shimmer, then for it's super cute name! The shade of blue that the polish is, is actually quite spot on and speaking of its gorgeous shimmer, look how they shine in this bottle shot!

Blue Screen of Death is a cobalt blue jelly polish with a stunning turquoise shimmer. The shimmer doesn't really photograph well but trust me when I tell you it looks a million times better in person.

Application was easy peasy. Two quick coats and you're done! Dry time was also great - I was able to apply Lemony Flutter all around my cuticles and fingertips in under ten minutes without smudging anything.

This was my best effort at trying to get the shimmer to shine. Pomegranate Nail Lacquer has miraculously manage to make the Blue Screen of Death something I actually love!

Brush-wise, Pomegranate's brush is about the same width as the Essie brush but because it is slightly longer, the brush fanned out better and that made application much easier.

Pomegranate Autumnesque is now available on Star Trinkets, their first international stockist. Non-US fans of the brand can now lay their polished claws on the brand more easily! YAYYYY! Ozotic 902

Hey polish lovers! Today I'm interupting Holo Month you show you a very special polish, Ozotic 902 from the new Ozotic Sugar range! The range is inspired by adding a tiny drop of colouring to icing sugar, hence the sugary and frosty look!

902 appears purple with just a little more! This is 4 thin coats on its own.







You can see there's a duochrome finish to it. On its own, it shifts from a overcast grey to purple, with pretty blue flecks shinning through.

You can also layer 902 over white, to get a pretty, pale lavender look. This is two coats of 902 over white.







Layering it over white makes me think of fairy wings! It just looks so precious!

One last look you've got to check out (and try!) is how 902 looks over a black base. This is one coat of 902 over black.



Isn't 902 just GORGEOUS over black? The blue flecks stand out so much more!



And here you can see the prominent blue to purple shift.





At extreme angles, you can even catch a little hint of amber in the colour shift!



It's a magical transformation that you need to see to believe!

I couldn't resist some macro shots! I mean, just look at the colour shift!!! As usual, Ozotic's duochromes/multichromes never disappoint!





Here's a shot taken indoors, under no direct lighting, not near any windows, just a random spot in my room. It only goes to show the polish shines even when it's not under strong lighting!



The moment I painted 902 over black, I knew it looks familiar and I dug out two of my frankens made from adding TKB pigments into clear polish.







As you can see, my two frankens are pretty similar to 902 but they aren't dupes at all! TKB Cherika Moon has more teal and less purple to it and TKB Lavender Luz has more of a finer, shimmery appearance, compared to the glass fleck appearance of Ozotic 902.

I also needed two coats of my franken over black vs the one coat of 902 I used over black, so you know how densely packed 902 is with those magical glass flecks!





Here's one last shot of the three polishes, again taken in the same random spot with no direct lighting. Boy, the colour shift really looks so pretty!



The formula of 902 was amazing and it was really easy to get an even coat of polish when painted on its own or over black. When painted over white, it was a tiny bit harder to get an even coat but it wasn't impossible. You just have to get the right amount of polish on the brush.

The dry time was also good and they were dry to the touch in under ten minutes. That's pretty awesome considering I had a minimum of 3 coats of polish on my nails.
