I have been going insane trying to find OPI Nantucket Mist in stores and every time I step into a shop that sells OPI, I never fail to try my luck and ask if they have a bottle of it. Sadly, I haven't been so lucky and so I can only be grateful to have tried it out when I got my first manicure.
I did do a comparison with China Glaze IV in the post in linked above and I'm so glad I did because I used the pictures there as a basis of how my franken dupe should look like! I must say, I'm pretty sure it's not a complete dupe but it has served its purpose of killing my lemming for Nantucket Mist just a little!
(Please ignore the wire of my mouse in the photo)
I have Nantucket Mist (NM) on my pinkie and ring fingers and IV on my middle and index fingers. As you can see, NM is definitely more peachy / orange and muted / dusty compared to IV. With this as my reference point, I started with some IV, added in a little yellow polish to make it more peachy (just a drop or two for a 5ml bottle), some mauve polish (I used Java Mauve) to make it more salmon-y and dusty and I'm pretty sure I added in a drop or two of black as well just to darken the baby up.
This was what I got:
I have my franken dupe on my index and ring fingers and IV on my middle finger and pinkie. I know this isn't exactly a good shot because even IV looks different from the previous picture, but you can still see how my franken is dustier and more peachy than IV so I'm pretty pleased with how it came out!
I do have some good news to share! After many hunting trips in countless polish shops and looking around ebay/amazon, I FOUND SOMEONE SELLING NANTUCKET MIST for a reasonable price. I think it was USD10.95 plus USD2.50 for shipping within the US, so I asked the friendly US Facebook girl who's helping do some major hauling from over there to help me get it and ship it together with the other polishes I ordered!!!! It should work out to be around SGD20 for Nantucket Mist and it's still cheaper than what the OPI shop will charge. I did see Nantucket Mist last year in the MBS OPI store and I was such a fool for not buying it then. I was too foolish to look beyond the $23 pricetag and was optimistic that I'll be able to find it elsewhere for a lower price but when I finally gave up hope and went back to the MBS shop a month ago, obviously it had been sold! :( So I'm glad I'm getting a second chance to get my paws on NM, even if it'll cost me $20 this time!
Oh, I must also mentioned that on one of these looking-around-ebay sessions, I also found MAC BLUE INDIA!!!!!! Again, I also asked her to help me get it (even though I also asked her to get Sally Hansen Grey by Grey, which can be considered a pretty decent dupe for Blue India)! It's BLUE INDIA, only my second most coveted polish, after Chanel Nouvelle Vague of course, so I jumped at this amazing opportunity to own that baby! WHEEEEEE, I seriously cannot wait for the shipment to arrive! I've managed to kill quite a number of major lemmings in this haul and I ordered quite a few bottles so I'm gonna TRY to stay away from polishes until next year (or at least cut down on my purchases)! She's still looking for some polishes but when she does ship it, I'm going to be standing at my mailbox everyday waiting for the postman to come! I hope nothing will break in transit though (KNOCK WOOD)!!
