I totally love how Rimmel Beige Babe can "change" colour under different lightings!
Case in point:
Purple under a lamp.
Grey under strong sunlight.
Brown in indirect sunlight.
That being said, I just wasn't feeling the colour. It's not the polish per say, it's just me. Perhaps it's just a case of wrong polish colour, wrong time. I'm feeling more meh these days, with school work, presentations and projects starting to pile up and maybe it has caused me to gravitate more towards the really neutral colours, like greiges and nudes. I didn't even feel edgy enough to wear a taupe for crying out loud. Funny thing is, my mum couldn't stop raving about this colour and asked me to give it to her if I don't want it anymore! Guess school has got me feeling down. Maybe it's also due to the fact that I don't have much time to practice the guitar as much as I want to and I can't master the techniques in time for the next lesson every week. Sigh. Guitar's looking more like a distress than a de-stress thing right now.
But back to the polish, it needed either 2 thick coats, or 3 thinner coats to get opaque. Both works just fine. I did get some sort of streaking (maybe due to the brush) which was why I chose to do thicker coats to kinda level it out. After that, I slapped on a layer of Poshe to get it to dry fast because I had a mountain of things to do.
Right now, I'm onto my third day of wear and I only have really tiny chips but they're mostly due to strumming my guitar with my nails so it's no fault on Rimmel's part. I'm actually loving how Poshe is at least taking me to day 3 of wear before chipping because normally I'd get a chip on day two previously and by day three, an entire chunk of the polish would come off! I just ordered a bottle of Seche Vite from Gwen's spree so I'm looking forward to testing that out and comparing it's wear with Poshe!
Really feel so tempted to remove this colour and paint China Glaze Pelican Grey (I had that colour on my toes for the past week! I'll show it to you soon!) or OPI Tickle My France-y on instead.
interesting.. i wanna get a grey polish leh i don't have a grey one yet. and silver. any recommendations?
ReplyDeleteIf you're still not very into grey then try OPI You Don't Know Jacques. It's got brown in it but it's more grey then the normal taupes! If you want a full on grey then either Essie Chinchilly or China Glaze Recycle, depending on what undertones suit you best. You can also take a look at Essie Playa del Platinum which is more greige. Alternatively, you can just mix your own grey polish up so you can really customise the amounts of black and white to your fancy! Silver polish wise, it really depends on how shimmery you want it. I like OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous quite a bit cuz it's got some glitter in it, but maybe you can try Etude House? They've got two really nice silvers! Nature Republic too! Plus they're soooooo cheap! Hope this helps! (:
ReplyDeleteOh I like how the polish changes color in different lighting! =) all shades look beautiful on your skin hehe i'm sorry that you've been feeling kinda low lately.. maybe you should bring the tempo up and just slap on a bright color to make you happy ;) I love seche vite, that's the only top coat i'll use because it dries so fast and it allows me to wear my polish longer since it helps out a lot with the whole chipping issue. But I would like to try some of that poshe sometime =D
ReplyDeleteThe last time I used Seche Vite, I had similar chipping issues that I've been having with Poshe - everything chips off in one huge chunk! I hope it won't be much of a problem for me this time! I learnt a trick on youtube to not paint the entire nail with the topcoat but leave a tiny tiny portion on the sides so the polish won't bond with the entire polish bed and chip in one huge chunk! Hope it will work!
ReplyDeletethe next transdesign spree i'm gonna go crazy with all those polishes you mentioned hahahhaa!
ReplyDeleteHAHAH! I ordered 13 polishes from Gwen for the spree that just closed? Super broke now! Imposing a 2 month polish ban on myself! Oh, my bottle of Essie Chinchilly came and it has a little bit of brown in it, so compared to OPI You Don't Know Jacques, which is predominantly brown with some grey, Chinchilly is predominantly grey with hints of brown! I'll post pictures soon! (:
ReplyDeleteomg yes pls pictures would be awesome haha. i also want a true true grey lol
ReplyDeleteThen get China Glaze Recycle! It's as grey as grey gets! Check out Sophia's post on grey polish! http://retailtherapy.onsugar.com/Nails-Story-Comparing-Greyish-Nudes-13418401 Her swatches are pretty accurate!
ReplyDeleteHAHA okay i must search for transdesign spree!! and rbl's stormy is so awesome
ReplyDeleteI have so mnay RBL polishes I wanna get but it's so inconvenient to buy them! If you buy recycle, take some photos of swatches! I'm still thinking whether I really want it or not!
ReplyDeletewhen gwen opens a spree i'll get recycle hahahahhaha. where to get rbl polishes? transdesign dont carry them right?
ReplyDeleteNope, must buy from their website! I think it's around $18 a bottle? Not sure though!
