CNY Mani

I decided not to get a manicure done at a salon because of the exorbitant CNY price hikes and do one myself at home! Plus, I also had some new colours that I was pretty excited to try so why not?
Because I haven't really confirmed what clothes I'm going to be wearing for the various days of CNY visiting, I decided to do a neutral colour that would be easy to match my clothes with! I really liked how Barely There (my previous mani) was like in terms of versatility so I chose Essie Body Language for my CNY manicure!

Of course I had to do an accent nail with Color Club High Society! I think the two colour compliment each other pretty well! I would describe Body Language as a greyed out ultra light lilac. In fact, I only noticed the lilac undertones after I painted on High Society (which I also associated as a mushroom taupe and never realised how it also has a hint of purple in it until now).

I used 3 coats (2 thin and one thick) for Body Language although 2 thick coats would hace sufficed. High Society required 2 coats.

I'm really liking this clean cut, neutral colour look! I'm sure it doesn't mean I'll become boring and only buy "safe" colours only but it probably means I'm going to buy more of such colours from now on! Just ordered Essie Chinchilly from Estella (technically I didn't break my polish ban because I had some credit with her so I didn't have to pay any extra money) along with China Glaze Below Deck, Seaspray, Essie Playa Del Platinum and OPI Black Shatter (which were previously OOS so I asked her to try and help me re-order them again). Really hope all the colours will be in stock this time round! I'm dying to see Seapray and Below Deck in person! I also hope Below Deck isn't too close to Essie Merino Cool because I recently got Merino Cool and I immediately thought of Below Deck!

Also, it just struck me that Essie's French Affair collection for Spring 11 seems so neutral, and blah. Not that I don't like blah because I just said that I'm starting to dig it! I just wish they would come up with a Mint Candy Apple sister or something! Or more pastels! Yellows, purples (lilacs), blues, pinks and maybe even a light orange (creamy coral anyone?). Misa too, with their 9-5 collection, so many greys and neutrals! Although Misa will be launching their Wishes collection which seems to have some creamy colours! I guess I'm waiting for summer to see what kind of colours the other companies will be coming up with! China Glaze's Summer collection seems very bright and tropical (not my cup of tea yet) and I wanna know what OPI's doing! I hope the Texas collection isn't just going to be their only Spring/Summer colours because I'm not exactly digging those colours either!
